Training Philosophy

I am a balanced trainer with a lifetime of experience.  I train through motivation, repetition, and establishment of boundaries.  A dog needs to be motivated, excited and trust its handler in order to want to learn.  Enthusiasm is the magic ingredient!

A calm, confident and well-mannered dog is not only a joy to live with, but welcome wherever he goes - a valued addition to any family!

Training Experience

I have been training dogs for over 30 years.  As a service dog trainer for Assistance Dogs of America in Swanton, Ohio, I managed a prison puppy program for the Toledo Correctional Institute. There I taught inmates to train puppies for careers as service and therapy dogs.

During my time in canine search and rescue I was a handler for the California Rescue Dog Association and Nevada County Search and Rescue, as well as Kaiserslautern Search and Rescue in Lansthul, Germany.

As a member of the International Association of Canine Professional (IACP) and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC), I am able to keep up-to-date on the latest science and methodology in dog training.

I have been training privately in Auburn, CA since 2017. I like to keep things simple. I still pick up the phone when my clients call. Please feel free to call, text or email me if you have any questions.

I look forward to hearing from you.
